Blick Art Materials donates to Discovery Depot

May 21, 2008
GALESBURG - Blick Art Materials recently donated $3,000 to Discovery Depot Children's Museum to support the free admission for special programming each month. John Polillo, executive vice president of Operations at Blick Art Materials presented the check to museum Executive Director Darcy Thorp.

The Depot offers "Teeter Tots" a program geared toward toddlers learning about art, science, math and language activities. Children also can enjoy the "Stories Alive" program where they are read a story, work on a related craft and take home a free book. And the popular "What's Up With ...?" a hands-on science program designed for 8- to 12-year-olds.

"It's nice to see businesses such as Blick Art Materials helping our community. Knox County has one of the largest poverty rates in the state, at this time our organization is doing everything we can to offer programs for families to help them through these hard times. Even in hard times, families need to make family time and education a priority. More and more families are taking advantage of our free programming.,"said Tharp.
